Turning Point in the fall

This is the second Turning Point Park post. I went there again in the fall, but it still wasn't peak for the fall foliage. Once again, this park is north of Rochester and has a boardwalk that juts into the Genesee River. The bridge or boardwalk is 3,572 ft-long and winds along side the banks of the river. It is a scenic walk in all the warm seasons and is a great place to take a camera.

Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse

There is a historic lighthouse called Thirty Mile Point lighthouse, that is around 30 miles east of Fort Niagara, at the beginning of the Niagara River as it empties into Lake Ontario. It is in the town of Somerset, New York. It was built in 1875. A couple links about the history of this light house:

Williamsville Billies football

When Joe Licata left for UB, it was thought that this would definitely be a rebuilding year for the Williamsville South Billies. Not only did Licata leave, but two great receivers and a running back also left, depleting a powerful offense.

I figured that it would not be a good year to see any of my alma mater Billies games. Boy was I wrong! Not only are the Billies still winning, 6-0 now, but they have another big quarterback who can not only throw as good as Licata, but he can also run. The quarterback is Trent Ferguson, a 6-3 junior that has all the promise of another Licata...and so much more.

UB's Educational Opportunity Center

The University of Buffalo is expanding its presence in the Buffalo Medical Corridor with the construction of new buildings near Buffalo General Hospital and Roswell Park. The latest construction project is erecting a new Educational Opportunity Center next to the M. Wyle Building on Goodell Street. It will be completed in 2012. Here are some pictures I took of the construction...

Sabres training camp

Went to the Northtown Center to see the Sabres practice Sunday morning. The players were really hustling and hitting hard. Never have seen this much hitting in a practice! The boys must be determined to put up after Terry Pegula has put up so much for them.

High School football in WNY

The football season opened on Labor Day weekend in WNY and there were plenty of games for fans to choose from. I went to the St. Joe's vs Aquinas game in Kenmore, N.Y. It featured Chad Kelly, the nephew of the famed Buffalo Bill star quarterback Jim Kelly against Aquinas's Jarron Jones, who will be going to Notre Dame. Aquinas ripped St. Joe's 40-20. Also saw some of the Orchard Park at Ken West game, which O.P. won.
