PGA championship at Oak Hill

We had a great time at the opening day of practice for the 2013 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club Monday. The weather was absolutely perfect, sunny with a few puffy clouds and the temp not getting any higher than 75. Saw VJ Singh practice along with Justin Rose and then Tiger made his way to the course and teed off at around 4 pm along with Steve Sticker.

At around 3:45, we saw a huge mob running over to the first tee and we knew it was either Tiger or Phil ready to tee off. We hurried up the 18th fairway to the first tee and saw Tiger play the first 5 holes.

Tiger hit a few tee shots in his first two holes, and then decided to concentrate on his chipping game the next few. I took 147 pics in all, but uploaded 30. Here's some shots I took...

Canalside fireworks

After seeing the fireworks from the comfort of my backyard, I decided to drive downtown to see the fireworks at the Canalside park. We actually parked on a street close to the park and got a good view from there. The unique part of the location was that there was an old grain mill from the 1800s that was directly in line of where they shot off the fireworks. Seeing the fireworks being silhouetted by the old grain mill gave a different perspective and the pictures reflect that.

I used two settings on my Canon Powershot. One was the standard Auto setting. The other was the special Fireworks setting. My first picture below will be the Auto setting, followed by the fireworks setting. You will see that the surreal, psychedelic images captured by the fireworks setting is much better.

Watching fireworks from my backyard!

Every year we get to watch the 4th of July fireworks display from the comforts of my back yard. Living across the street from a country club golf course has some advantages and this is one occasion. When I hear a sonic boom overhead, I know to head out back and look to the skies. I'm never disappointed. Here's some of the pictures I took of the fireworks on July 3, 2013.

Waterfalls after torrential rains

The last week in June 2013, WNY received record amounts of rain. The City of Lockport and even northern Amherst experienced substantial flooding. Streets were flooded in Lockport, with people even using boats to navigate the streets.

I went to 3 waterfalls nearby a day or two after a week of rain. The first is my favorite, Glen Falls in Williamsville. The other two, Akron Falls and Indian Falls are near Akron, NY.

Bison baseball - Day at the ballpark!

Haven't gone to a Bison game at their Coca-Cola Field in a couple years. Got good seats to see a Buffalo Bisons vs. Indianapolis Saturday, May 25. Here are some shots I took...

Josh Johnson, down on a rehab assignment, kept Indy at bay with his good pitching.

Day at the Zoo - Part 4

There are enough pictures that I took at the Zoo to supply a month's worth of blogs. Here more Buffalo Zoo photos...
