Back to the roots of hockey

Hockey began on frozen ponds and it was played on Lake Erie in Buffalo for the Labatt Blue Hockey Tournament this past weekend in Buffalo.

Pond hockey is the very root of the sport. In the depths of winter, on a frozen pond, many
great hockey stars were born. Now, in this very tradition, Labatt Blue sponsors the biggest pond
hockey tournament in the world. It took place on Buffalo waterfront, right on a frozen Lake Erie and
many thousands came out to see the teams play.
